things that are scalable with MAG in a STORY
negative MAG (from disonance) makes things harder, more dangerous, or more complex positive MAG (from harmony) makes things easier, safer, or more lucrative
if an nearby NPC CHARACTER that is within 2 MAG of the ACTORS CHARACTER MAG exists, and they are not already on a STORY, there is a 20% chance to use them. this should be done with every possible NPC nearby that is in memory otherwise create a new NPC CHARACTER and add them to the NPC LIST. this ENEMY has a GOAL that may oppose yours, but doesnt neccesarily have to do with you particularly. this ENEMY should be equal or within 2 MAG of the ACTOR’s CHARACTER MAG this ENEMY is hostile and will attempt to harm you if you get in the way of their GOAL if the ACTORS help this ENEMY complete their goal, they may become less hostile, or even allies.
HARMONY MAG SHOP :
wound this ENEMY from their own journey introduces a new flaw within their CHARACTER ( if not seen before ) make the ENEMY have a GOAL that alligns more with the ACTORS GOAL, but they dont know the ACTORS yet
DISONANCE MAG SHOP :
upgrade the ENEMY by 1 MAG in their CHARACTER, TOOLS, or ARMOR give the ENEMY a MAG 1 ALLY of their own that works with them as a friend, companion, or assistant.
if an nearby NPC CHARACTER that is within 2 MAG of the ACTORS CHARACTER MAG exists, and they are not already on a STORY, there is a 20% chance to use them. this should be done with every possible NPC nearby that is in memory otherwise create a new NPC CHARACTER and add them to the NPC LIST. this ALLY has a GOAL of their own that has nothing to do with yours or may intersect with it in some minor way. the ALLY should be equal or within 2 MAG of the ACTOR’s CHARACTER MAG they are un-hostile and will assist you if you assist them, but they will not travel off the path of their own QUEST unless they have to. if the ACTORS help the ALLY complete their GOAL, they will have another GOAL after resting or doing mundane tasks for 1d4 days. this ALLY could become pieces of your STORY if choose to follow nearby ( they have to get something equal out of it ) this ALLY may not be an ALLY forever.

upgrade the ALLY by 1 MAG in their CHARACTER, TOOLS, or ARMOR give the ALLY a MAG 1 ALLY of their own that works with them as a friend, companion, or assistant.
DISONANCE MAG SHOP :
wound this ALLY from their own journey introduces a new flaw within their CHARACTER ( if not seen before ) make the ALLY have a conflicting GOAL that doesnt allign all the way with the ACTORS GOAL the ALLY is just a CHARACTER that is neutral to the ACTORS
some sort of INFORMATION that could be LORE, DIEGETIC MOTIVATION, or MUNDANE DESCRIPTORS
HARMONY MAG SHOP :
the INFORMATION is more detailed, useful, or easier to understand by 1 MAG there is an additional piece of INFORMATION added this INFORMATION leads into the next STORY BEAT
DISONANCE MAG SHOP :
the INFORMATION is more vague, complex, or harder to understand by 1 MAG there is a piece of false INFORMATION added which may mislead the ACTORS
an ACTION must be completed to trigger something. this is disguised as an mundane INFORMATION given to the ACTORS and is often related to something. the ACTORS must decide to take the ACTION to complete the PUZZLE, the ACTION TYPE should not be obvious. ideally the ACTION is something that fits the ENVIRONMENT or the CONTEXT of the STORY BEAT.

the ACTION is easier to find, understand, or complete by 1 MAG there is an additional HINT or CLUE to help find the ACTION
DISONANCE MAG SHOP :
the ACTION is harder to find, understand, or complete by 1 MAG there is a FALSE HINT or CLUE that may mislead the ACTORS there is a fail condition that triggers a negative consequence if the ACTION is not done correctly
a physical, social or magical barrier that can be overcome with an a few different possible ACTIONS. this takes time, resoures, or effort to overcome, and is usually not a threat on its own.
HARMONY MAG SHOP :
the BARRIER is easier to overcome by 1 MAG there is an additional way to overcome the BARRIER
DISONANCE MAG SHOP :
the BARRIER is harder to overcome by 1 MAG there is a time based situation that makes overcoming the BARRIER more difficult
some sort of ITEM that could be a TOOL, ARMOR, ALCHEMICAL, or a CRAFTING MATERIAL.
HARMONY MAG SHOP :
the LOOT is of higher quality by 1 MAG’ there is an additional piece of LOOT added DISONANCE MAG SHOP : the LOOT is of lower quality by 1 MAG
a specific place that has some sort of significance to the STORY BEAT. within 0 to 8 TILES of the ACTORS current LOCATION
HARMONY MAG SHOP :
the LOCATION is closer, easier, or safer to get to per MAG the LOCATION is a natural resting place for other CHARACTERS in the world DISONANCE MAG SHOP : the LOCATION is more remote (1 WORLD TILE per MAG) the LOCATION is more dangerous (im temperature MAG or an introduced environmental hazards per MAG)
